Bloomin Red
Hello,
I have a red vauxhall and the paint has bloomed, I regularly polish it but I'm now bored is there anyway to stop it or at least make it easier
to deal with

What is mean't by paint blooming..?
Is it the top layer oxidising and going cloudy.? I have a Red Fiat, which was poweder pink until I spent a few whole days T-cutting it back to red..

Yes that's it, it's gone cloudy, I have T cutted it back but in six months it's back as bad as ever, The car as far as I can tell
has never been painted

Get it properly mopped by a bodyshop, they use a geared down angle grinder with a polishing mop which when used with cutting paste takes off the top
layer and also warms the paint, restoring the shine. Then a decent polish follows, again using the mop.
You need something like this
linky thing, not a cheap 12v object or you are wasting your time.
I had an old XJS that had sat for a couple of years and looked horrible, borrowed one of these and it looked like new after a couple of hours, only
thing was I ended up black from top to toe !
If you do it yourself be careful, you can burrow down to metal on the edges !

swmbo's red Honda CRX is always turning pink and the only way to make is stay red is to repaint imo. I have tried mopping and using
sophisticated carnuba waxes but after a few weeks it goes pink again 
I had the rear bumper resprayed after a car park bump and it is still lovely and shiney (and red) after two years - the only trouble is that is makes
the rest of the car look dull by comparison.

The bumpers on my car haven't been painted from what I can tell, but those and any other plastic painted bits are still a nice deep red, the
petrol cap looks particularly odd against the almost pink of the rest of the car

That's just red paint for you i'm afraid. I did know the reason for it but can't quite remember the exact details, basically there
is a chemical compound in most paints that whitens when exposed to sunlight (might be titanium oxide?), and red paint contains more of it than any
other colour. I've spent many a day polishing out pink, i'm a sucker for red tintops despite this annoyance (my last was a Super Pink III
MR2)

I believe that one reason for modern red paint not being so good is that the old and good pigment has been banned, mostly for the health and safety of
the people who worked with it (sprayers, etc.).
I think it might have been some cadmium compound... (artists use a cadmium red, I believe)

I have a red mini cooper and that sparkles apart from the rust that is, come to think of it I have never seen a red mini fade at all, but I've
seen tons of vauxhalls corsa, astras etc that have faded very badly,so whatever compound it is, it isn't in all red paint
