I Agree with you on the size of the industry, but it is just that – a successful industry, which was successful a long time before Ron Denis came
along. This was the reason they set where they did. The heritage of motor sport industry is probably more a result of the UK be very good at
innovation, ie a lot of the bleeding edge computer industry is here, along with the many other examples. As a nation it is something the UK is good at
and should be proud off.
In terms of bringing on young drivers - the Redbull drivers academy, Ferrari have there own way (via a young Todd), Renault have there own - but
at the end of the day, in really terms a very few talented people are supported with 95%of these to be discarded along the way. The same goes with
engineers, a few who are very good - and get paid a huge about and are the panicle, but with a lot of very good engineers under them, who get paid
relative poorly. I do know this, having worked with 2 ex F1 designers (one from Mclaren one from Jordan) who now work at Rolls Royce - the reason they
left the money as too poor and they were expected to work huge hours, and no RR is just a standard pay company.
But this all just makes me think RD is no different to Eddie Jordan, Briatory, Todd, etc. The only one who stands out is Frank Williams for succeeding
despite everything which happened to him, and still an independent Race team, who has been knighted.
Just to be clear I don’t think David Beckham should be knighted either

We need some good publicity lads.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.
