your first link is dead!

i was looking on ebay for rc helis just half an hour ago. Gotta get another.

The little one at the bottom is amusing (i have one similar) but you have no real control over it. Its up down and spin, you need one with the proper controls that move in 8 directions.

Trouble is, a good helicopter is usually too big to fly indoors. I planned on taking mine to the gym but never got round to it. Thought they might object!

they are good fun, but as said no real control, you make them go up and down, and turn, and they tend to go fowards on their own. but always a good xmas day challenge to take off one end of the room, and land in the standard quality street tin

Hi
Some friends on mine started with a Dragonfly 4 (4 channel) but have fallen into the "I need a better one" trap.
We are now learning loops and rolls with "3d" HoneyBee King 2 heli's
No so lo-cost now, but good fun.

Have a look at some dedicated web sites like:-

www.heliguy.com
www.rcmods.co.uk

that last link seems to have a better controller, implies you can choose to move it forward.

Dragonfly 4s are great helis to start with, however if you have no experience with RC flight, I suggest you go for something with counter rotating main blades like the Lama or the walkera 5#5

me and a mate got one about a year ago, it was a Walkera 52, very small but had 'real' controls meaning it was damn hard to control. It took me about 3 months of hopping it about in the living room until the main motor gave up, looking about suggested it was a main fualt so i moved to a larger one the Honeybee CP2.

Im still learning now 1 year one, i still cant fly it facing me but i can turn it sideways in a hover. Its very addictive being as its such a long learning curve.

Get parts, lots of them and watch your TV! they make a mess of what they hit.

My bottom link is just like the Lama and that seems to be the one to go for.

The tiny infra-red controlled heli's are fun and incredibly easy to fly as they are very stable, but also rather limited.

The somewhat larger Dragonflys/ Honey Bees etc. are much harder to fly (more difficult than the large nitro powered helis apparently), and are nopt really indoors toys unless you have a very large room.

for for a lama v3. i've got a honeybee fp and a king 2 but there hard to fly, the lama's are quite easy, they'll fly outside if it's still, and are still small enough to fly inside.

Never mind that toy b****cks get yourself airborn. Foot launched powered hang glider is the way to go. Launch in a footie field in 12 steps.

What do you need to fly one of these beasts? As in the powered hang glider?

yeh that will do as an indoor and 'totally still' back garden chopper.

My mate bought one a few months ago, typican idiot he is, always make u think how he manages to get up in the morning. He told me how he was flying it in his garden, wind (breeeze) got hold of it, que silly music as i picture him running up the road in his socks shouting it to come back. Next is the bit makes me laugh. Him asking the local shop owner if he can get it down off his roof! lmfao! 29 year old in his socks asking for a toy back.

me, get cocky and take the heli too high (bigger heli), loose control and smash it into the conservatory roof and watch it bounce onto the fence and onto the floor. Thing is when i knew i lost control i just gave up, shrugged my shoulders and waited for the impact. But the missus was in the conservatory cleaning the roof, it hit right at her. Lol i think my heli has it in for her.

great fun, but get some spare rotor blades and be carefull of charging the batteries. They can catch fire (mine has been fine).
