M40 shunt - a good start to the day!
All
Apologies for any delays caused on the M40 at 09:20am this morning - about 1 mile north of Jct 4 on the southbound carriageway.
Whilst queuing to get off the junction (always snarled up there) I had the pleasant experience of looking in my rear view mirror to see a Scania truck
bearing down on the 4x4 which was also stationary behind me.
It was one of those - "oh, thats not good" kind of moments.
The impact was reasonably "sizable", the 4x4 took the brunt, hit me and pushed me into a Mini in front of me. Damage to both ends -
should only be cosmetic hopefully. Bumpers, headlight, foglight, grill, nearside wing - I don't think anything has been "pushed
in".
Got a bit of a sore back now, but otherwise OK. Everybody else was OK too.
At least the lorry driver has admitted it was his fault so everybody has a no-fault claim.
Hey ho - got off lightly. Should be OK for a few more years.... hopefully

At least metal can be fixed.. But I'd like to add if you are in any discomfort go to casualty as if you have problems later...... I had a minor
shunt a few years ago and felt only a twinge at the time, i ended up flat on my back a week later.
Dont play games with your back as you only get one.

I would second that go to casualty and get examined, keep a record of what is said, if they find anything you go to the top of the queue, if you go to
the doctor it may be months before you are seen, the way it works now is when GP writes in there is a queue to get an appointment within the 3 months
"waiting list" maximum period.
Don't forget to mention back pain in the insurance claim along with any comments from the doctor, it may not seem like you have a serious
problem now but if you have hurt your back and it comes back later you still have a claim, also watch out what you sign when the insurance co offer
settlement and make sure it does not exclude any future medical problems!
I hope you are OK and don't have problems!

I went to my GP and was seen very quickly by the NHS and had 3 months of physio. The nurse was even tasty too, and each time she made me strip off to
my boxers. Yay!

Ditto - cover the medical angle, backs & necks can cause problems further down the line.
Had a similar thing happen to me - waiting for the lights to change coming off the M5 for Cribbs Causeway. Stopped in the queue, noticed car coming up
behind way too fast. Luckily, more than one lane empty to the right so I changed lanes pronto just in time to see dozy bint pull up IN
'my' space with all wheels smoking....
Missus says 'why are you jumping the queue?' :-)
