eBay fraud
I came across a nice Fiat 500, down in Fareham
on Ebay for £1800 !
I emailed the seller (registered the same day as the auction..:S)
and got the classic reply:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eB
ayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120173894242&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=002
" Hello, I am selling this car for £1,800.00 including delivery anywhere in UK.I set at a "very, very low" price to guarantee a
sale. The only reason is that I need cash for a family emergency. I have to tell you that I'm currently out of town with some major problems so
pick up/view isn't an option. If you want to buy this vehicle email me back with your full name and address to start the official procedure
trough eBay. They will send you a notification with ALL the info regarding delivery, purchase protection and refund policy so please provide your
details before more questions. You will find 90% of answers in that notification from eBay! Thanks "
I mean, do they think people are stupid.? I know it only takes one nieve person to fall for it, shame .. I was half hoping it was genuine..

A £4000 motor?
Do they all come from the same place? If you look this bit "to start the official procedure trough eBay." is always spelt wrong. Get your
nose in the ebay trough
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Ive given up on reporting them, with the most minor of indiscretions been jumped upon by ebay they let these auctions run the distance no matter how
many people report the item.

I have done a bit of fraud reporting to ebay, but they never respond except through automated messages...makes you wonder if they really do anything
about it???

It's a classified, not an auction, so e-bay will say they have no responsibility, as would your local paper.

This could be stopped in an instance.
If our useless gov. made Ebay totally liable for fraud losses it would stop PDQ.
