OT Location of home services
Evening All,
OT but does anyone out there work in providing house services. We currently have an oil boiler that needs replacing in the near future although works
fine at the moment! How do I go about finding out exactly where the services run etc? I tried British Gas and all they said was that no houses along
our road have gas. I could have told them that!
Many thanks,
Steve

Can't help you on the House services but maybe with the choice of boilers etc.
At the moment i'm pretty sure i've heard the price of the heating oil and gas is comparable with all the gas price rises we've
had.
If there's no problem with the boiler you have I wouldn't give up on it just yet.. they can usually be fixed until the water side of them
starts leaking.. as it can be an expencive job to replace them.
The only major downfall of oil boilers over gas is that the need servicing more often, espescially if on heating oil/Diesel as apposed to Kerosene
which is cleaner.
If you are slightly out in the sticks and really want a gas boiler there's always LPG to be considered if you want a modern condencing boiler.
But if you are in the sticks get a standard boiler and NOT a combi, as there's less to go wrong with them and you get a much better hot water
supply from an old fashioned cylinder or modern unvented hot water cylinder, you can always have an immersion heater in there as a backup as well, so
at works you'll only loose the heating should it go faulty.

Thanks for your help on this. I was coming to a similar conclusion myself.
Thanks,

Be aware heating oil prices are about rise by a large margin because of the massive rise in crude oil prices..
Same goes for lube oil
