I would actually guess it is legal - maybe not desirable but I think legal.

If the log book were to be offered without the chassis then that would be illegal although it is seen regularly on ebay

Cheers

I stripped down my part built Tiger B6 back to the bare chassis - partly as the standard of panelling was pretty poor and partly because I wanted to make a few mods (which is now turning into plans for lots of mods). That chassis looks to have been used with what looks like drill holes for ali panels and sealant (grp according to the ad??) in evidence. Cant see any reason therefore why it shouldnt be genuine and legal therefore.

As for purchasing it - personally I see SVA as a damned good safety check for something that I may be driving at 140mph (on a racetrack only officer) so why are people prepared to pay so far over the top I dont know. A new Avon chassis from Tiger is £595 +VAT (not powdercoated) and wouldnt have loads of holes in it which as I have found are a nightmare when repanelling. Fortunately I am going to repowdercoat my own chassis anyway.

No different to taking apart your tin-top and rebuilding. Think Pimp my Ride.

As long as the story is true then it has to be legal, and the pictures of the chassis seem to support it. If you bought a bodyshell for a classic car which came with a registration document and chasssis plate and had access to all the other components to rebuild it would you consider taking for an SVA when it was all assembled?
