I'm a fan of panasonic phones.

Their cordless ones seem pretty good quality without being hugely expensive - if you shop around for a deal.

ASDA --- Binatone brand DECT phones

Very good and very cheap we have 4 --- 4 years and no problems.

What ever you do don't buy BT branded cordless phone -- we have had two sets the first only lasted a year, the second set two years.

first set were bt and died after 6 months
second set are ntl (i think) and have gone really quiet after about 4 months
trouble is unless they are installed you cant really test them.

My BT cordless phones sound like the other person is bloody whispering!

A mate has some Phillips that are pretty good & have a nice 'weight' to them..

Be careful that what you buy is simple to operate, for an elderly person if your parents are elderly.

We've just had to take the dect system out of my mo'in-law's place, because she kept pushing wrong buttons, then sending the things haywire.

Old style are still the best, if you can still find a cordless system with no extra functions. If you do, let me know please.

Cheers,
Syd.

Or as we call them at work - Binaphone. Get some Panasonics.
