Any itunes experts??

Ive been getting a few albums on a DVD. Trying to stick them into itunes. So far ive had to select each track in turn. Its taking a while but i can live with that. Whats got me beat is that a couple of the albums are appearing in itunes under seperate album covers (ie 1 track per album cover instead of all of the tracks under the 1 album cover).

Anyone know how to cutr and paste the tracks or move them under the correct album cover? I have a feeling its something to do with how the tracks are listed and titled but not sure how to fix.

Cheers,
Darren.

Ok, I'll tell you what I do - it may not be the best way, but it seems to work....

I am assuming the mp3s are stored by album, in seperate folders?

If so, select add folder. You can then select the folder you want to add, and it will open and add to your library. IF you need to change tunes already in your collection, select the ones you want (ie all of an album) right click and select the edit info option. Then just select all of the items you want to change, and it will change it for all of the tracks you selected.

Selecting the add folder option was certainly much quicker - many thanks fpor that.

Unfortunately it still stuck the tracks under different album covers. I cant seem to suss out how to edit them. I was hoping i could just click on a track and move it to the top album cover - but alas no.

Ive managed to select all o fthe tracks and under get info (after right click) select them as part of a compilation, they then showed up ok.

Just need to work out how to add album and track names when they dont import across.

In the edit info menu:

You just make sure to tick the box next to the album name, then type away (in fact, if you start to type a name, it automatically ticks the box). The album cover, double click i think (i dont actually have it on my work computer, so cant check!) on the box in the right cand corner for the album cover....

iTunes is organised as a database.

When in iTunes click the top of the column you want it organising in. I always have it displayed in "Album' order by clicking the "Album" heading. It then changes colour and displays and arrow to indicate whether it is in ascending or descending order.

With regard to naming: right click (CTRL to multiple select) and edit the ID3 tags all together - easy. If it still splits them up - tick all the boxes of the selected tracks of the same album as iTunes thinks any difference in any aspects of the ID3 tag - is a different album.

Hope this helps - Steve

You can make playlists (File - Add Playlist) into which you can drag anything you want. Saves a lot of trouble. You can organise them into albums and that later. It helps to have the album on your hard drive first, but not absolutely necessary.
