o/t - miracle stain removing tip
Does anyone have a miracle tain removing tip for removing bright red felt tipped pen from a light beige carpet. I suspect the carpet i quite cheap so
probs polyester or similar. Ive tried washing up liquid, star drops, electrical cleaner, carb cleaner, non-bio washing powder and very weak bleach
solution so far to no avail. Its a renty house with £650 bond so you can see the dilemna!!!

Know exactly the prob!
We've just moved out of a place with ground-in coal into a beige carpet with a similar bond!
I have to say that the Rug Doctor thingys that you can rent from supermarkets and DIY shops are pretty good!
First time Id used one and I was impressed. We bought the special "spot removal fluid" for some of the worst coal stains (we had a solid
fuel stove for our central heating) and it did what it said on the tin.
You can hire the machine or just buy the stain removal stuff so maybe try that first?
Worth a go - we were impressed!

Yep as Geoff and Nitram says ^ ^ ^ ...try the Vanish for Carpets first........if that fails... Rug Doctor......our local Homebase store hired them
out, so I suppose its national......that is DIY stores.

If it's indelible try cellulose thinners, but be very careful as it may melt the carpet fibres!

Methanol dissolves permanent marker.dont know if it would dissolve the carpet tho lol

Another vote for white vinegar here -suprisingly effective for a number of cleaning jobs.

rented houses suck like that don't they!
We redecorated the entire downstairs of the last two places we left, due to the odd little mark on the walls. First place said they would keep our
deposit if we didn't, the 2nd place didn't even notice!
It's fly by night buy to letters that are the worst, they think they can rent a house for three years, do no maintainence to the property and
when the tenents move out it will be ready to re-let after opening the windows for 10 mins to let it air. Either that, or they try it on to have your
deposit as easy money.

Get some spray paint the same colour and give it a light waft over, job done. edit:- Resolve or meths then 1001 mousse or washing machine pre
treatment liquid or baby wipes which seem to remove everything under the sun.

Xylene (hammerite thinners) is a good bet, it works on most fabrics etc without damage, stinks for a while though. Its a good bit kinder than celly
thinners

As Fozzie mentioned, get down to the Supermarket and get yourself a Stain Devil suitable for felt tip.
The Vanish foaming carpet cleaner works well if you give it a good scrub as well..but you usually end up with an annoying "clean" spot.
