Chrome Removal
Hi all can anyone tell me a locost way of removing chrome from a aluminium grill that fits on the front of a lambretta scooter
the tool would be to rough.
will the caustic soda and battery thing do it ?

It will completely dissolve in caustic without the help of a battery if it's aluminium. If you are painting it just wire wool it and etch it to
key.

I've tried that in the past with steel but without success - plenty of fizzing, but the chrome seemed to stay put.
Maybe get a proper Chroming company to remove it for you?

Brother in law used the place in this thread and was happy with the results taking it off some golf clubs.

I second using Cleveland Chroming, they stripped the chrome from some antique bath taps for me several years ago so that i could go for the polished
brass look.
Coincidentally I should be going there this week to have the same taps rechromed.

He has just let me know that he has done it with a sanding disc
