another one for mad Friday
Ok here’s another thing I was thinking about (remember in the wizard of oz when Dorothy looks out the window into the twister? That’s my mind… )
anyway I was looking at solar cars and it occurred to me that they make no use of the heat from the sun. This can add up to a huge amount so I thought
why not put a heating coil the top and a condenser (radiator) on the bottom. Using the heat to vaporize a refrigerant this pressure could be fed
through a pump and used to turn the wheels. Then when it reaches the cooling coil under the car it condenses adding a pressure drop. The whole cycle
is then repeated over again. Would this work? I’m not sure.

Heat? Sun? Here in Britain? The sooner we discover a rain powered car then we'll be onto a winner

Mr Whippy, you appear to have to much time on your hands , you should go and work for Ken Livingston as one of his Green
advisors
alternatively you could ask your boss for something to do

heat from the sun? Why not look closer to home like utilitising the heat in the earth's core.
A car running on magma is the future.
On a smaller scale, why can't watches run off body heat?

i've got a solar powered watch... the problem is i cant tell the time after dark, the watch stops
what about clockwork cars? you have clock work radios don't you?
as to heat powered cars, even a fridge requires a pump to work, it is to do with the cooling and heating effects of compression and expansion. we dont
get enough heat to generate the power required for the pump to work, and what happens when you go through a tunnel

I've got one too - solar powered but with rechargeable battery - Casio protrek, with the Ti strap, built in compass, altimeter etc.

ah ha, so how does it work?
you need to droill a deep hole in your garden andthe intense pressure foreces the magma out that you catch in a bucket, tip it into your car and used
the heat from it.
as it cools down, it is ejected onto the roads as chippings, melts into the surface so roads need never be resurfaced.
if you are feeling packish, you can grab some of the hot coals for an improptu barbie.

Have you seen the Atmos clocks, they run on temperature differences - a 1degree change will wind it for 2 days.
Fascinating pieces of engineering.

Funnily enough I have seen it in Helsinki duty free; a bit expensive though.
I wonder if you can scale it up to wind up a car overnight?

I see a slight flaw.
What about the growing volcano that then burns down your house followed by the rest of the town?
You risk get issued an ASBO for this
