Heavy+ notchy tintop clutch
I recently had my gearbox reconditioned...whilst it was out I put a new clutch, release bearing and clutch cable onto the car...
Everythig was fine, (it was done 1000 miles ago) but gradually the clutch has started to get quite heavy, which I guess I can live with...
But its notchy/sticky...if you try and bring the clutch peddle up gently its almost like something is snagging it, so its impossible to move slowly
through traffic without looking like your a mad man...
Its a 2001 Polo GTI 16V 1.6.....
Anyone have any ideas what I can try and do to rectify this? its starting to drive me nuts!

release bearing/fork perhaps?
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but its sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again, the sun is the same in a relative way but
your older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death

The release bearing was replaced...
And im fairly sure that new bearings were put in the clutch actuator shaft as well...
I would take the gearbox out and see whats going on, but I would rather not given how much effort is involved... I think it took us a day to get it
back in ...Mainly because im a stickler for detail

have you tried oiling the pedal pivot?
If it's a cable clutch you could fit a bar onto the clutch lever arm and move it by hand. That will tell you if it's the cable side or
internal.

Sounds like a cable or fork pivot problem

Ditto pedal box. Common fault on Polo's + Lopo's. PITA to change as well. That is assuming you used a quality clutch and not the cheapest
you could find.

It was a quality clutch I fitted...A damn expensive one at that!
I got VW to check the peddlebox and they say its fine..
It has been replaced at some point in the past with an upgraded stronger one...
I will disconect the cable and see what seems to be "catching"....If it is the cable then VW can pay to put a new one in... (they charged
me over £100 to do it) They even left me their plyers inside the engine bay
