i pay around 65% of evrything i earn to the goverment in taxes
how much do you pay remember you gt taxed on what you buy and wages so double that.

Yep, I've never quite got my head around that - you are taxed on what you earn AND on what you buy with your taxed income 
I've just switched to a minimum wage slave job for a while so I might even get a tax rebate soon!

17.5 is vat
19% Corp Tax (20% for small ltd companies)
22% Income TAX
11% NI but thats upto 30K (I think)

bear in mind that the cost of a litre of petrol is almost all tax, as well as ciggies.

hey i got an idea, how about a locostbuilders forum flat in monaco, everyone that chips in gets to register as living in it and we can all get around
the taxes
or maybe a an exodus to the isle of man, IIRC 10% income tax

As yet i pay 0% tax and i'm exempt from paying NI too
Until........ I earn enough that it. what is the minium before paying tax £5200?

It changes to £42k later this year (april?)...
I hate to think how much tax I pay... when you realise exactly how much ultimately goes to the government you end up with next to sod all for
yourself!

what with a thread like this one-and the number of forums/abbility to be read-on the internet alone,how come the simple fact that probably the nation
as a whole feel like we are working to feed the government rather than ourselves is missed/not answered not raised in the h/o/commons?????
interestingly on the news last night some mp was trying to state his case but the head lord speaker idiot "did not like his tone" and had
him removed-maybe he was trying to put my case and yours forward?
so wanting to leave this country or do something as it seems to get worse here daily

You add your allowance to that so mine is 5200+34,600 = 39,800 before they take more 
It seems at the monet evrytime my wages increase the tax man take more away so I just stand still

i think its much more than 66%! after you work out that when you die your 'estate' is taxed too meaning its much higher. When my nan
passed away She had a lot saved up and my dad was sick when he was informed from the solicitor how much tax it worked out too.
What got me was yesterday i got some brittania reward thing (profits). I only have my Mortgage and insurance with them and to see that this was taxed
at 20% made me angry.
My wage is taxed at 25% (included NI), then nearly everything i buy is taxed at 17.5%, then any savings at about 5% i think, then the taxes to get to
work which is another £1k a year, insurance tax, road tax, council tax and so on. Its close to 95%.
Funny now i have 'grown up' im starting to look at things to trip up on to claim some of my tax back. Pity i dont have the balls to do
like others have.
Sorry about my spelling, im an engineer and only work in numbers.

I am on a negative tax code and have just paid £7100 in corporation tax for earning too much

The reason the tax burden is so high is two fold, one they waste too much money on goverment projects, two they waste the rest on social payments to
those who won't work or in jail or illegal or all of the above.
