Resetting a Ford Escort ECU

As the title says - How do I reset the ecu? Will simply unplugging it do the trick or is it not that simple?

Also, how long does it take to 'relearn' after a reset?

its plug and play,
take it for a run, steady 70ish, for a couple of miles,
then alter the speed, for a few mile
should relearn itself straight away !
you having problems with it?
can it come over to mine?
will put it on code reader if you want?(snap on)

yours paul

Thanks for the info Paul (and your telephone call)

Probably just me being over cautious and I just wondered if the ecu needed resetting after being traumatised by me and my soldering iron. It is certainly running a lot better after a couple of work runs so no worries. Much better on fuel too, so I must have done something right
