I think it depends on the year.. on or 2002 Tb's its a cylinder with water pipes connected to it, as the water warms the cylinder up it pushes on a lever that shuts off the idle air bypass.

On that thread it can be seen just below the ally air filter back plate at the bottom of the picture.

Other than that theres' a lead that dangles down with a knob on the end that you can twist to adjust the actual idle speed.

Were using the original water based setup and have found no problems with it... other than when we first started it up there was some loose rust in the cooling system that blocked up the small diameter pipe but once cleaned out its been fine.

The amout of pre-tension or how quickly the water system shuts it off can be adjusted on a screw on the linking bar that links all 4 idle bypass plungers together.

You could also replace the wax filled cylinder with a small electric actuator or stepper motor to push open the existing stup should you wish to totally control it from the megasquirt.

yeah thats right, i have the 02-03 TB's and they have the wax idle control system, when i had my r1 carbs on the car i didn't even have a choke cable i just used to hold the choke open by hand (with the bonnet off of course) and just rev the engine a bit to start putting a bit of heat through, so i guess i could just do the same ?

You could just rev the engine a bit etc.. but isin't one of the main benefits of injection that you just turn the key and it goes rather than pulling on cables etc?
In which case the provided water based method works fine.

I'd be suprised if there isin't something for flushing engine blocks etc out, but its best to be as clean as possible in the first place.
There is also central heating flushing agents available that are safe to use on Aluminium heat exchangers so they'd presumably be safe for car rads etc.

Either that or fill it with pure water and drive it round for a few miles etc untill its warm and then drop the bottom hose and re-fill with new clean water and anti-freeze.
