stolen from blatchat
Quote from blatchat, who was there and could confirm this .....
"Was at Bruntingthorpe on a track day yesterday...plenty of MK's there....only one of them was quick enough (maybe driver ability too!) to
keep up with my modest seven. They had R1 engines and all sorts...I took great pleasure in showing them why I bought the real thing. I only paid £8.5k
for mine four years ago (have spent money making it better mind but not anything that would break the bank). Actually, I had great pleasure in
overtaking a load of Porsches yesterday too. Even a 996 GT3! I didn't manage to have a chance to play with the GT3 RS....awsome car! A few
Westies were annoyed at my 'real' seven too
Always a pleasure lads!
I must say that as my standards improve, my car unleashes more ability (if you see what I mean)...all I would like now is better brakes!
No-one came and asked 'what's in it mate'....Shame as I would have loved to have said 'A rover engine'!
So, maybe 8.5k seems cheap but anything than seems cheap usually is. I know caterhams command a premuim but there is a reason for that. Plus strikers
are, IMO, a better car (I owned one) and it is not just about the BHP. Power is nothing without control!"

So it was ready built by someone? He obviously missed the point.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Well, he seems like a jumped-up Prick, no matter what he drives. It'll be interesting to see what the attendees say.
Quote from Pistonheads: "Well it was a busy old day with loads [of] seriously quick seven-a-likes (MKs?). "
I was once royally murdered in my old MK by a couple of modestly powered Caterhams. However, that was on 17s etc so not exactly a track-biassed
set-up. They are undoubtably fantastic cars.
In any case, 'Mr Always-a-pleasure" - nice car; shame about your ego.

I wouldn't get wound up about it - comments like this appear from both ends all the time and it always gets someone's back up...
I know and have got drunk with an awful lot of Cateringvan owners & Lostus 7 club members and the majority of them are decent folk, though you
should never let them off the lead....
Spin 'er off Well...

Nowt wrong with that blatchat post at all. Its far tamer than some of the posts that come up on LCB. (i know you didnt say there was anything wrong
with it).
Everyone knows the stance that Caterham take when people use their names - fairs dos really. They are their property after all. I doubt anyone even
questions that Caterhams are fantastic and not many would turn down the chance to own one if some spare funds came their way.
I dont even blame Caterham owners for being protective of the brand that they drive, own and love. And lets be honest all of the cars represented on
this site are 'in the spirit of' or 'replica ish' and usually far cheaper.
What is apparent no matter what type you drive is that everyone expects them to be quick. What is never known is the actual spec and development they
have gone through and what skills the driver has. But its nice that everyone recognises there potential, and what a great never ending hobby.

I was there - can't say I even remember the car. The only caterham I saw was an older turquoise coloured one that I have seen there a few times.
I remember it cos it has loads of rivet holes where it has had the clamshell wings replaced.
I only saw it moving in the pits once, and never saw it on the track.
I have to say in the few times i have seen it there it has never done anything memorable...
Perhaps it was a different car - which was even more memorable as my be-fuddled brain seems to have erased all memory of it...
Each to their own - I guess the need to comment on how much "better" things are is important to some. I drive my car as it is a cost
effective and fast toy. I don't drive it because it looks like, or is loosely based on a Lotus 7 or Caterham. If that was important to me I
would go and get one of those.
Frankly my own driving ability would be the limiting factor on whatever I had!!

"R1 engines and everything"
As above saw the turquoise one in the park, there was another next to it can't remember what colour but what the heck.
Check Paul Fishers videos, see if anything Caterham like passes him and make your own mind up.
Each to there own, someone bored doing a bit of stirring perhaps
