donut back on the forum

Hello peeps

Had a call earlier from Bob to see if i was still breathing and yes i am just about

(Thanks for the call bob, it cheered me up no end!!)

Not been on as i am mega miffed an not being able to build my V8..AGAIN!

To cut a boring story short i have been having gearbox problems with our car (Auto) and we are having to get a new one... car that is. We need a reliable 7 seater so have gone for another 07 plate Sharan...yes yes i know but it was not easy etc etc... Had to get a car quick as our current car's gearbox has only 3rd gear in drive.

anyhoo

We already have a loan out on the old car and needed to get another loan for the new one plus my youngest started private school a few weeks ago (£20k a year for both kids )so all my car build money has gone

I will still be around dropping the odd comment hear and there but not as often as i was.

Work is really good but i'm sick of databases LOL

And if anyone would like to buy me a real Cobra i won't say no

Cheers

Sorry to hear about the blown budget.

Not worth just getting a new gearbox?

Cheers,
James

there are other things wrong with the car. We have been through all this and it is the best option. We use the car for holidays and our summer hols is 3 weeks in france (again!!!) and i just don't trust a gearbox that has a known fault. It's the same problem as before and it's an inherrent problem. They changed the gearbox on later models which is a much better and more reliable unit which was probably easier than curing the problem????

Also if they fix the box it will go wrong again just after the warranty runs out!!!

So it's a new car which i'm picking up tomorrow.

If a product has an inherent fault from day of purchase, under the sales of goods act you have six years to make a claim in the UK (5 in Scotland). It doesn't matter if the warranty runs out. If its a proven fault they'll have no choice but to repair or refund you.

hth.

Hey mate - good to see you back. Just looked into a local private college for my daughter when she's done her GCSE's (as she a bit of a smarty-pants unlike her parents) , but they want £18k a year

Needless to say she will be going to the local sixth form college like everybody else
