insurance on a classic mini - how much ?
Ive been offered a 32 year old mini, just wondering how much the insurance would be on something like this ?
Im 34 clean licence etc, was thinking if it was on a limited mileage classic policy it would possibly be less than a hundred quid a year, if its that
cheap i might go for it.
It has 32000 miles on the clock, its all original, has had subframes done, runs on unleaded, MOT'd until february next year, has been garaged at
all times, comes with complete history and is on its second owner, the first being her mum !
Been offered it stupidly cheap as they want it to go to someone who will look after it....
Anyone have a similar type of car on classic insurance to give me a rough idea on price ?
Cheers....Andy

Sorry my Minis are not on the road just now so cant be sure of Insurance but i would imagine around £100 sound about right. Oh and how much do you
want for it?

I would also agree with arround £100ish.
Just have a good look over it as they do rust in all sorts of places but the older cars were made out of decent metal so if looked after they will
last.
Get a pic up when you get it as i love mini's.

For use as a daily runner be prepared for all sorts of niggles and they are an absolute sod to work on.
Also a Mini at 32k miles requiring new subframe seems strange.

... but it is over 30 years old...
btw, if the body shell is OK and it's reliable, you could always get it resprayed if you don't like the brown

Why not do a confused.com search, then contact the specialist classic brokers - Flux, Footman James, I think Carole Nash do classic cars now,
I've been quoted £90 odd for the 72 mgb with a 1.8 zetec in it.

Im going to look at it in two weeks time when they get back from holiday, i have owned minis in the past so i know about their niggles and what goes
wrong and where they rot etc but you know how it is, you get offered something like this and it gets you thinking, if i get it and keep it, it will be
left original, would be a shame to do anything else bearing in mind its history, when i look at it i will post some pics up, im not expecting it to be
mint but is has been garaged and has had work done regular so shouldnt be too bad......
Will get some results up in a couple of weeks time

Well, went to look at the mini today, my other half fell in love with it, pretty tidy all round, agreed on 200 quid presuming a test drive in the next
few days goes ok.
When she opened the garage, it was like stepping back in time seeing a mini that original in great condition.
Will get some pics up here when we get it.
Love that brown vinyl interior

To give some idea of daft prices for minis...
I went to a garage in Boxford, Suffolk last week to get some tyres fitted. In amongst all the Porsches and Ferraris was a 1966 Mini Cooper in
showroom condition.
Yours for just under £11,000!
