The cost of scrap is sky high at the moment. I got £70 scrapping the Sierra recently and that was just a shell, gear box, engine, steering rack, prop shaft had all been sold, no running gear left on it an the diff and steering column are in my car. It wasnt that long ago that you had to pay them to get rid of a car.

Church roof's are regularly being stripped of lead and copper and I know of at least one instance where a plumber had a new bundle of 15mm copper lifted from his van.

The top story dosent surprise me at all.

Round here (Paedoterrotown - aka - Dewsbury). It's deemed acceptable to chop a cat from under somebodies car.

do you think the name'll stick? probably more likely to evolve

i had my damaged pinto manifold nicked from the bushes round the back of our garage. among other things, a scrap compressor that made it over the top of a locked 6 foot gate too. this is up by crow nest park. i see the tramp tinkers wandering about with their prams all the time. often think about sticking a wheel on the kerb.

if only the waste traders would refuse to deal with them, half of this crime would fizzle out but they're as dodgy as the tinkers it seems

where abouts are you? didn't realise you were in dewsbury

In with the old out with the new. New washer in to replace the one with burnt out motor.

"What we going do with the old one" she asks. 'I'll put it out the front, top of the drive' says I.
"The council won't take it, you'll have to ring them first" she says.

Nevermind, 15 minutes later it was gone
