Trailer decking
Further to my earlier post regarding wheels for my caravan trailer I only need an extra 1/2 inch width to get my front track between the wheels so
they will just push through no problem
Next thing is the deck,.I'm in a hurry and am going to using wooden decking to board it.
2.4m ribbed decking from B&Q is £5.50 a length. Anyone know any other place to get it cheaper??

Won't wood decking make it a bit heavy?

As you can see above with the angle on its still light enough to lift about. 19" decking at each side shouldn't add too much. The axle is
rated at 1000kg so plenty of margin.
Thinking about it £50 for decking, spar and screws, how much would two 3m lengths of 3mm steel cost???
Thanks,
Steve.

Why not use inch x inch weld mesh, 8 by 4 sheet about 25.00, make sure the bits where the weight goes is strong enough framewise, cut to size with
grinder and weld where it touches, lovely and quick to do and very light as well...my last trailer was done like this and ever since I've
wondered why it took me so long to think of doing it that way!!!!

Just seen your pic....you're trailer is ideal for it. You'd need to run a length of steel down the middle of your 'platforms'
to help carry the weight, just run it on top of your chassis

Decking boards will get very very very slippery and you'll end up in the back of your tow car!
Weld mesh or the phenolic boarding is the way to go.

Do you have a timber merchant near you?
- Some bod std 4*1 rough saw tanalised timber would be much cheaper, as well as proberbly less slippy.
Phenoilic ply is good, but not cheap or light.

I have used 19x 19x 1.5 ERW cross tubes with about 80mm gaps between on my trailer and it works fine.
