Car tyre punctures
Our little runabout got a puncture the other day. Garage said they couldnt repair it as it was too close to side wall. I didnt argue and paid for new
tyre (after they discounted it right down). i was a bit miffed as it was the only new tyre on the car to start with.
Does anyone know what the rules are ref puncture position? Id like to measure it up etc to see if it can be repaired later.

It depends upon the type of tyre and the size of the patch required. For a tyre below V rated and a small patch up to 3mm hole (A3 TipTop Minicombi)
its permisible to repair in the centre 90% of the tread.
As a general rule though I won't repair within an 1" of the edge or within 6" of a previous repair.

As adithorp says not within 1" of the outer edge , within 6" of another repair and IIRC a maximum of 3 repairs?. Putting a tube in a
tubeless tyre is asking for trouble as well IMHO.

I had same thing last summer and only after it found that some companies, Thistlewaites in Bolton in this case can repair these. I think they re
vulcanise the hole or summat technical.

LOL - isn't it always like that!?!!
maybe newer tyres, having deeper tread, are more susceptible to picking stuff up to commit puncture hari-kari?

Sods law int it!!
The car is only Pug 106, so not a fancy fast rated tyre. Puncture was due to a wood screw. Im sure its well within the central 90% and over an inch in
from the side. Ill take a better look.
I think i need to find a lgal website on this. Im sure the tyre place is in the wrong and stung me for new unnecessary tyre. I took the tyre with me,
and when i checked reciept they charged me for disposal of casing!!!
