Peugeot wishbone bush

I've got loads of play (front-back) in my NSF wheel on my cabrio. Looks like the rearmost bush on the lower wishbone is moving about. Anyone know if I can replace just the bush or do I need to change the whole wishbone??

I think...

I had a holiday job in a peugeot dealer a few years back, and they were always replacing the bushes on 306 & 406 front lower suspension arms.

Sounds like yours is the same. Don't remember them ever needing to replace the whole wishbone though.

Obviously for safety - do have a look at the condition of the wishbone if you do get the old bush off - just in case there's something wrong.

Hope this helps,
Adam.

Cheers for that. Is it a long job? Presumably I just need to unbolt that side, pull the wishbone down, push out the bush and refit it all?

Chris, my mot picked up on this on my tin top 306 a couple of months back, said mine would need doing soon, called it the suspension rear bush.

Friend of mine had the engine fall out of his 306.

He got a 307 last year, and has just had a new clutch - it can't cope with London traffic.

Poor thing!

Chris,

You can replace the bush seperately with out the need to replace the whole arm.

You will need to remove the arm completely so you can press the old bush out with vice or similar. It's easy to remove the arm, 2 pivot bolts and the lower ball joint bolts (leave the ball joint attached to the hub carrier).

German, Swedish & French sell OE spec bushes for a good price.
As Adam points out these are prone to wear so I would consider replacing with Poly bushes which are available for the car in sets - these should improve the handling of the car and last longer as well.

Did this last night but managed to pull the driveshaft out when I was trying to disconnect the wishbone. Liberated a large quantity of gearbox oil onto the garage floor.

It popped back in and I've got some more oil this morning but am I likely to have shagged an oil seal or anything?? :S

Oh, I bought 'API-GL5' standard oil - is that right?? I know bugger all about gearboxes as you can tell!!
