Tintop oil specs

Need to change the oil in both my tintops

1. Audi A4 tdi 110 1997.
I've always used the stuff from GSF quatum
But was in halfrauds and bought their 10w40 pt syn diesel and is the right grade for the vw 500.00 spec but doesn't claim to be vw 500.00 should I use it? Halfrauder wanted me to buy the £37 castrol stuff.

2. Rover 220sd 1996
haynes says acea b2 (rover manual lists a whole range some 10w40 some 15w40 but none state pt synthetic or mineral just the brand name e.. visco diesel 15w40), halfrauds 15w40 enh diesel oil meets the spec, but is a basic enhanced mineral that according to halfords is for most NON tubor diesels and mines a turbo.

Should I stick with what I got. Iwas tempted to put thte 10w40 in the rover and get some from the vw garage for the audi, sure it was only £20 last time.

God I must be bored to post this on a friday night!!!!!!

Mike

I share your dilemna. My BMW 320D apparently has to have BMW LL01 approved oil.
Have you taken a look on opie oils website? They allow you to enter car make etc and then show available approved oils at various price points.
