More than one size of single DIN?

I brought a radio for my Midget and a fiberglass radio console from ebay but the radio is too long (depth) and doesnt fit in properly. I have seen loads of modern radios fitted in these fiberglass consoles.
Is there more than one size of single DIN?

Yes, din refers only to width and height. On some cars where there isn't enough depth you need a filler. It means the stereo sticks out of the dash though.
