Viewing site at work

Started a new job and 'message forums' are blocked on the internet. I've obviously tried going via a proxy but 'proxy filtering' websites are also blocked. Any ideas?

They also know that you've just tried a proxy site.

oh well. I only work for the Ministry of Justice, it's not like they're particular when it comes to conduct at work LOL. Weird thing is we're allowed to go on social-networking sites like Facebook but not a forum?

Make friends with/sleep with/bribe the appropriate IT staff.

When I was in IT working at Nokia I would do anything for you for a new prototype phone! lol!

Cheers,
James

Install logmein on your home PC, leave it on when you go to work, log in from work and browse off your home PC. Job done.

Go see your head of IT and convince them that LCB is an essential work tool for your job - "high quality online research resource with access to expertise 24/7, etc. blah, blah" and they'll add it to the firewall 'safe' list

OpenVPN will go through any proxy filtering like a knife through butter.

I found simply putting a 1 after banned web addresses does the trick.

If I'd just started a new job I wouldn't surf for non-work-related sites - not until I got a feel for the place anyway.

Your employer should give you a written guide to " acceptable use of computer networks ". Stick to it, or you're out on your ear.
