V5 confusion
I've just bought a second-hand car from a dealer and I've gone to fill out the V5 and the person the dealer got the car from hasn't
signed the "registered keeper" bit in red on the form. I can sign the "new keeper" bit but obviously that isn't probably
going to be acceptable to Mr DVLA...
I've got the address of the old keeper from the V5 but what's the answer??? Sign it, send it and hope??

you dont, in my experience, need the old keepers signature. Ive bought lots of cars from auction and some i sent off blank and some i faked it, made
no odds. I think DVLA just appreciate being kept up to date. Sign it M. Mouse and see what happens?

Just send it in with your signature.

just send it withouit the other signature, the dvla should send them a letter to say that the v5 will be re-assigned to another person.

Sweet! Thanks for the answers!!! Will do
Found a good little trick yesterday too. If you do an online HPI check for £20 you can ring up Norwich Union, quote the HPI reference number and if
you get a no obligation quote you get 7 days free insurance.
I have to say the quote was rubbish (Shakespeare with a Punjabi accent never works for me boom boom!!) but the 7 day insurance was sure
handy!!!
Now I've just got to ring round and sort out the real insurance....
Nice car BTW!!! I was worried an oil burner would feel a bit slow but it sure ain't. Sure feels environmentally friendly smacking it down the M6
at the unofficial speed limit (on the sat-nav) yet still returning 54MPG... 35 quid per year road tax floats my boat too...
