her Corsa's dieing!
Miss Whippys corsa is going tits up at work, getting e-mails
all the gauges have stopped working including the speedo, radio, fuel gauge & tacho she checked the fuses but none have blown so I suspect a bad
earth is the cause. Even the heater motor is running slower
its a corsa-B diesel, anyone come across this before with these little buckets??

Battery failed?
Battery earth strap / power lead connectors need a clean and tighten?
(but I'm sure you know all the non-Corsa-specific stuff anyway!)

oh thanks, wasn't aware of that
car runs fine and the battery light is out, just no gauges, she might be imagining the motor speed, I haven't heard it myself yet
cheers

don't think she trusts me to do that...she'd just ask what's going to fall off it then?!

I have had the same problem with a Merc 250TD. All electrics on board were dead.
Turned out that there was a short circuit in the ignition switch and/or the rectifier was broken.
Check whether it still charges.

Modern hi-tech batteries tend to die very suddely and very completely -- if nothing obvious you need to do all battery voltage tests.

sounds like when teh speedo cable stops working. its an anti theft system - no speedo, no clocks etc.
happened to a mate on a first gen corsa twice in a couple of months, really pee'd him off.

Happens to my Corsa on occasions. I just switch the engine off and restart it and it's all fine again.
