OT. Non car alarm system problem.

Hi All

My alarm system (building not car) is showing a set fail code, can anyone give some advice on how to re-set it.

Hard to say not knowing what system it is but have you tried putting in the code then hitting unset?

The system is a Scantronic 808, if that makes any sence.

I have tried putting code in and get "Set fail Z-09" on the key pad.

I will have a search but that says to me zone 9 is faulty

If it is a wire less system change the battery in the detector.

Edit:

this is the user manual

http://www.alarmsbc.com/pdf/808_user.pdf

zone 9 needs to be sorted

It could be a fly or spider accross the lens inside or out.

you can omit zone 9 from the menu which will allow you to set the alarm.

If you have a look at the detector on zone 9 be aware that removing the cover will set off the alarm because of the tamper switch this can be muted by putting in your user code.

Thanks for that.

The instalation manual looks usefull, I'll give it a good read.

The system is not wireless and as far as I know there is no zone 9.

If there isnt a zone 9 thats very confusing but have a look through the manual see what you can find.

If zone 9 is a door contact it could be faulty or the door may have dropped which means it wont work.

Ahhhhh just phoned and got some more info from staff.

They forgot something as they were leaving yesterday and held the door open while they went in and picked it up and the alarm went off. The key pad then apparently said "engineer reset req." It doesn't say that now, only "set fail Z-09".

Looking through the manual I could have done that, but the default engineer code has been changed (no real surprise there).

I think I'll do a 1st stage re-set which ought to let me do an engineer re-set.

What a lot of re-sets in that post

Thanks again for your input.
