Anoher example of the "Typical misrable British pensioner" complaining after the event about something they didn't even watch / hear
in the first place.
188 complaints after the initial event which is a lot more than what Ross / Brand had immediately after the event. I wonder how many complaints this
will spiral to?

It was a stupid comment, probably made with the express purpose of getting publicity.
We deserve better than cr*p like that...

I highly doubt that. I would say it was more typical Clarkson...

How does "typical Clarkson" contradict "stupid comment, probably made with the express purpose of getting publicity" ?
Sounds like exactly his Modus Operandi to me.
I don't believe for a moment he makes comments like that without knowing exactly what will happen. For all his faults he isn't
stupid.
The whole show is carefully scripted (as admitted by JC himself) which means none of his comments or actions are accidental and unplanned and as it
doesn't go out live the producers/lawyers will have gone over it with a fine-tooth comb before it gets out.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

its your own fault!

Well I think its all double standards.
The truck drivers should stop killing prostitutes first. Then if Clarkson makes a similar comment then they can complain. But until they buck up their
ideas and stop the killing then its a fair comment.

To clarify what I said... I still think it was a stupid comment made with the sole intent of getting publicity. However, I have a life and anything
he says won't affect me too much (not in the slightest, to be precise).
...and I haven't made any effort to watch that program for years - the other thread about it being a middle-aged 'Last of the summer
wine' is very true. The Dave channel has been playing old episodes for a while, and many of them are far better than the current crop.

While I love TG, i did think the comment was inappropriate and very difficult to explain to my kids who watch it avidly every week. What happened to
the 9pm watershed?

I don't know why insulting a group of people should be considered funny.
If the quip had been about kit car drivers being paedophiles would that have been considered amusing?
Isn't the over-rehearsed, pseudo chat, sychophantic audience format a bit tedious??

What makes me laugh is the fact the prositutes are complaning (well at least certain charritys/organisations etc) not the lorry drivers.
Surely self proclaimed law breakers should have no right to complain!?!

yet channel 4 can show 'embarassing illnesses' at 8 o'clock, and show close ups of willys and fannys. i don't know what
happened to it either

I think the comment was actually meant to poke fun at the stereotypical image that some people have of truck drivers, rather than to ridicule actual
truck drivers.
That being said, would be better placed after the watershed, although it's probably done wonders for the rest of the seasons viewing figures.

No - apparently there's been some sort of election in the USA, so they're showing a 'special program' about it. Usual BBC
"doing a topic to death cos we can't be bothered to do some real journalism" stuff.
