Never heard of Salamander either, but used Grunfos stuff before. If it has a longer warranty for the same money, then it would be my choice.

Buy the Grundfos one and keep a Mackem in a job. (their factory is in Sunderland and I fitted out their canteen a few years back!)

speaking from experience ie been a plumber for seventeen years fit a lot of both no great problems with either but if its the same money the warranty wins it make sure you send the card in you would be amazed how many dont get sent in.

I fit bathrooms for a living. We used to use Salamander but we're better now. If it goes wrong they always wriggle out of it. Go for grundfos or watermill or best, Stuart Turner. More money but the best.

So glad I found this site, and this reply. I had a Grundfos pump start to leak last weekend. New seals didn't help, so I guess it's cracked somewhere. I then looked for a replacement and came across the Stuart Turner brand that I had never heard of before. Ordered one Thursday (46415) and fitted it today - quite a few pipes to move around, but wow what a difference!

It's incredibly quiet compared to the (much cheaper) Grundfos. Flow rate is better too. Very pleased.

Thanks!

Stuart Turner. Get a second hand one if new price is too expensive.
