air bag light tintop
Guys can anyone confirm if the air bag light not going out on the dash is an MOT fail.
I know that its not ideal to have it inoperative but my 205 doesnt have one and it passed!.

I think the usual trick is to take the bulb out.....
.... shortly before selling the car......

check the connections at the seatbelt pre tensioner under the driver seat, especially if you share the car with a taller/shorter driver. It's a
regular problem with my pug partner and this usually cures it for a week or two

The official fix is
(1) Disconnect the battery & remove keys from vincinty of vehicle.
(2) Leave car for 15 minute before starting work to allow air bag ecu back up power supply to discharge.
(3) Find the electrical connectors under the front seats - disconnect and clean the connections with switch cleaner.
((4) Re-connect connections and battery.

Ours has been on for about 2 years now and passed 2 MOT's. Its usually (is in our case) where the seat has been moved back and forth so many
times, the connection under the seat gets dodgy.
britishtrident - Il try that with ours later as it is pretty annoying.
Not trying to change the subject but why does the airbag wire need to be connected to the seat?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Our light is on as well, has been ever since there was a dodgy connection to the steering wheel clockspring. I've got a horrible feeling it
needs plugging in to the Alfa computer to turn it off, which is why it's been on for months...

Not many DIY software reset tools around for FIAT group cars there is one floating around but it is a bit iffy.
When my Rover 75 eventually needs replaced the choice of car will have a lot to do with what DIY tools are around for accessing the cars electronic
ystems.
