Isn't the answer obvious? / ending of The Italian Job
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7756288.stm
Isn't it obvious?? The solution was obvious to me the first time I watched it age 10!!!!
Everyone is standing in passenger compartment rather than the drivers compartment. If they all moved into that they would gain a leverage
advantage.
Also the gold (+ Caine) are beyond the pivot point. This would suggest that if Caine was not on the coach it would be level. He could then wander
around the local area collecting rocks and bolders (lots shown in the area just before the crash!!!!) and put them in the cab area. This would then
allow one person to walk quite safely all the way down the passenger area and start collecting the gold. As they remove the gold the coach will remain
stable, they could always add more rocks into the cab area as they get off.
Why does any solution need to involve helicopters or magnetics?

Correctamundo... great ending!
Back in the day, film-makers couldn't be seen to let thieves prosper, so the ending is left for the viewer to decide what happens!

As Ben says, the ending is obvious. Get every one to one end and then get the lightest person to go get the gold. The more they move, the more stable
to coach becomes. Easy really. No need to involve a helicopter, burn all the fuel or any of the other nonsense!

Anyone who wants to change the ending?
I want them given a good going over, not killed, just given a good going over, with my compliments. Get the word out to Camp Freddy.

I always thought the ending had been left open because a sequal had been planned
It just never happened

The new Clubmans look like a bad joke. Regular minis are another story.
