Stuck master cylinder pistons...
Hi all, as some of you may know, the current project is a restoration.... a TR4...
Just wondered if anyone has any clever suggestions for a problem with my clutch and brake master cylinders... the plungers are stuck and won't
come out.... I can force them into the cylinder, but that has obviously made the whole thing worse... I think they're stuck with brake fluid
residue and possibly some ali corrosion... any ideas how to get them out?? Other thing is that - if they are that bad, should they be replaced
anyway?
Thanks
Chris

Girling cylinders quite normal for them to stick
Lubricate the bores with brake flud working in by pushing the piston in a couple of times then allow surplus to drain off then very low pressure
compressed air no more than about 15 psi -- blow piston out into a thick cloth wrapped over the end --- don't point the business end of
the cylinder it at yourself or anything of value. And beware splashes of brake fluid -- protect your eyes and paintwork.

he he he ; I had this on a sierra master.
Now this one had a hollow in the end in which the push rod fitted.
I got it out using one of these:
