Towbar electrics

Following on from my previous thread.
I am now the proud owner of a large hunk of tow bar type metal from my local german car scrappy £40 and I didn't have to take it off, looks good and has the max towed weight stamps on it. Just need some M10x100 bolts...

The electrics, from what I have found out is if you have bulb failure warnings you need a relay. As I will only use the thing once or twice I can cope with the computer telling me I have a lamp out. Do I still need the £20 relay (and the hassle of getting a 12v feed to the boot)

a4 avant 98 if it helps answer the above

Mike

The danger is blowing the module that studies the current draw to decide if you have lost a bulb or two.

IMHO yes, relays are required.

Do you need the correct box, well no, just some cheap relays like these and a soldering iron.

You are supposed to have a warning when indicating, buzzer or light. Buzzer annoyed me so filled with glue !!!
