privert number plate transfer help
hi i just brought a new car from a garage and am part exing my car i have a privert num plate on at the mo.
i have been told you cant transfer to another car at dvla office on same day any more
can i put on retension same day any one done there in last few months thanks terry

You can go to the local office and move it along BUT wont be same day. They have to assign the car with a new reg so not done there.

The garage selling you the new car will be able to assist you with moving the private plate, usually (well now) takes about 10days for the transfer.
Used to be sameday.
The new car should be able to get the private palte straight away with out need to be pre-reg.
Scot's do it better in Kilts.
