hmmm

strange, i can't think of any obvious reasons why it should cause a problem.

John have you checked that the USB ports are active, They can be disabled in the BIOS.

conrod,

A lot of web cams actually need a piece of software from the install Cd that links the driver to messenger. For logitec it's calle IM companion, dont know what hitec called it.

Maybe we missed this when you loaded. The cam looks like its working as you can see yourself so the USB side is working and the windows driver.

Just a thought

Simon

Are you using broadband with USB attached Modem (or dial up with USB modem) . if you are the web cam could be causing the modem to not work. with the cam software installed remove the cam and try to connect to internet, if no connection then the problem is the soft ware (try to update drivers etc) if the connection works is is probobly a power issue with the cam, try to attach to a powered hub not strait to port, or if on a passive hub connect strait to port.

Are you restarting your puter after installing the camera software?

Sometimes the new software takes over all ports untill reset.
Although a lot will run straight away, most software needs a reset to configure properly.
