14th Feb
So, what are people planning to keep their other halves happy on the 14th?
I'm already in trouble- the present I ordered (with 2 weeks notice!) is gonna take 5 weeks it seems.
Then, having poo pooed (sp?) her restaurant idea as being too expensive/food I didn't like/etc.etc. chose somewhere I thought would be
impressive and have now found it's booked out. Just like the theatre which was the other choice...
Aaaagh
Need inspiration quick!
James
P.S. responses from people (who in a sweeping generalisation I would suggest might be northern) along the lines of:
Don't be such a southern jessie- get on with the car!
or
Fish and chips and a spurt- if she's lucky!
or
Why, what's so special about 14th Feb?
will not be useful!
Cheers,
James

Ive sent my wife to visit here sister for the week and shes taking the kids to.
This way I will get a good few days of undisturbed building time before having to do the weeks washing up and fetch here home from south coast. Im
hoping to finish all the little odd jobs and add an aeroscreen to the car.
All of wich is not much use to you if your in the other halfs bad books for not taking her for a meal.
Paul.

the 13th is far more important.
its a celebration of the fantastic event that occured 45 years ago this Friday
As for the lesser 14th, im taking my wife out for the evening.
seems like a trip to Korea is in the offing around my wifes birthday next month, so that could be dangerous

Anyway, bugger Valentine's Day.

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Was thinkin exactly the same thing!
Brooky,
When it comes to Mrs pandering- those that went to LeMans with me will know that whilst I was in France my girlfriend was in Rome winning a silver
medal in the European Savate Kickboxing Championships!
If I'm not careful she'll break my legs!

And why exactly does it matter whether we make an effort to be nice to them on the fourteenth of february as oposed to any other day?
Beacuse the card manufacturers/resteraunts/M&S etc told us to - that's why!
Bollocks is wat I say.
I am in the very fortunate position of having a sensible young(ish) lady who also considers any money spent on the 14th as money wasted - she also
considers any money spent on the car as wasted but you can't have everything.
Cheers

My wife and I decided ages ago that Valentines Day is a waste of time - the only people who profit are the card and crappy gift makers.
The main reason it gets up my nose is that it's her birthday on Monday the 16th - and you try finding a restaurant table on Saturday!

Bugger the 14th, I dont think thats the real problem this year.
Trying desperatly to be out of the country on the 29th, as the long term girlfriend could ask me to marry her
Maybe pretending I forgot the 14th would help this situation.
Writeing this at work so she cant read it

David,
You couldn't be closer to the truth.
Chain or events.
- She reads the 'dont want to marry' post
- See this as an 'I dont love you' post
- Gets upset
- Thinks 'Maybe another woman'
- Spend loads of my time convincing her this is not the case
- Car gets behind schedule
- Car finished & SVA, just in time for the bad weather
- Car sits in garage for 4 months waiting for the sun to return.
Maybe just being presimistic

you guys are reading this all wrong!
Are you closet gays or summat!!!!!!
I dont understand women too well, but what I do know tells me that for a bunch of flowers, box of chokkies, nice meal out etc, you could get your
brains shagged out all night and go thro the whole of Ned's Ann Summers catalog!
call me daft, but I know what id rather be doing on Saturday and it doesnt involve building a car !!!

Gotta agree with you there Steve!
Get it right and you're wonderful, get it wrong and you're worse than something the dog's just rolled in!
