Restring quarry tiles

I've got quarry tiles in my hall and need to clean them up a bit. Obviously you can scrape them etc, but I beleive the professionals use a chemical a bit like brick acid to etch off the top layer and leave them sparkly new. Anyone know what that is?

Dress them with linseed oil when done, brings them up a treat.
