Finding a workshop/garage/unit

I need to find somewhere where I can finish off my MK (bodywork mostly) Our garage at home isn't big enough, I need somewhere bigger for a couple of months (need room for the car, the bodywork, and room to spare for tools, just need plently of room to lay things out and be organised) The local storage place is great (I use them to store my Bedford TK) and they let you work on cars etc but all their units are only shipping crate width. My uncle has a workshop in sleaford which is perfect size (couple of double garages in size) but they want a minimum lease of 4 months.

I've tried the local paper in the past with limited success. Back in 2004 when I started building the MK I got a HUGE (like 6 double garages with an inspection pit) workshop from a man in his 80s for £5 a week I know that that unit has been developed since. Since then I've put a few ads between then and last year and I either get no replies or the local storage place phones me.

I'm wondering how to go about finding a place. Try the paper again? (£20 for a tiny ad ) Pay more for a bigger ad?
Anyone here in the Leics/notts/lincs area know of anywhere?

Try http://www.gumtree.co.uk Its free to post an ad and quite widely used.

There is a garage/driveway section on there.

*pulls hair out* Can't seem to find anywhere, tried local estate agents, all want long minimum leases, gumtree gave me 2 people saying "i've got a nice flat in the city centre" even though it clearly says workshop/garage in the title I just want to give people money!

Anyone know of any free advert type places on the net that might have something?

I know this is easy to say coming from somebody with a two car big garage, but I would put bodywork and as much as you can in your own room, and keep as much as you can fit in the garage at home.

I had no luck looking for space either, and decided I'd just shovel a bit more snow off every day by leaving one car outside all winter. Better to keep everything close.

It's a lotus elan bodyshell, that's the problem in terms of size, wouldn't be able to get it through the front door When off the car it takes up the space of another car. If it were normal se7en bodywork then I'd just store it inside/up on the garage rafters

A straight 6 in an Elan! Sounds interesting, and on the edge of being impossible

IIRC it's an MK Indy, with a Volvo engine, and an Elan bodyshell on top.
