after much discussion my wife has narrowed her choice down to, wait for it.....

Either a
Suzuki Swift
OR
Smart Roadster
OR
Alfa 147 Lusso Diesel

Got about 5k to spend what are your thoughts?

Smart Roadsters have a terrible reputation for leaking - water ingress Bu88ering the electrics as well as seats/carpets.

The new swift is a very nice little car but you missed off mX5

we went to see a really really nice 156 lusso yesterday but she wouldn'tlet me get it. It was bloody cheap too

Small Suzukis very very reliable but have a minor rust problem with water collecting in the front tie bar mounting gusset plate --- Because of the design it fills up with water which dosen't drain away, not a major problem a drain hole and Waxoyl stops the rot but something to look out for.

Alfa = Italian electrics = major trouble sooner or later. I take it the diesel will have the VM engine -- not one of the best

The Smart is just too .................
