airband radio

Are there any plane watchers out there?
I work nextdoor to a air museum and there are old planes flying around all day,
Is there a radio receiver I can buy so I can listen in to what's going on?
Thanks .......Denis.

This is the sort of thing you want:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97977

Maplin do quite a lot of different scanners. But you need to make sure the one you get covers the air bands.

Oh, and just to add - a lot of old planes don't have radio, so it may be quite quiet.

radio's

thanks for the answer, A lot of the traffic is modern and lots of hellicopters use the field.
Weekends they have fly-ins so I am thinking lots of radio contact.
It might make a relief from radio 2 when I am working on the car.
Denis.

I have a maycom 108 it picks up the planes! I use it for the BSB and Moto GP but its designed for air traffic ! maplins used to sell them (about £70) ! mine was £40 on ebay but that was 4 or five years ago!

I,ve had a look and the price has'nt changed much!
