need ideas on how to stream live recording of wedding in Poland to UK
hey all,
off to a wedding in Poland soon and the groom's grandparents aren't keen on travelling there due to poor health. been asked to look into
how they could watch the ceremony/reception etc via a live feed. I know a webcam could do this via skype etc but I imagine the quality will be pretty
poor. also i dont want to sit in the ceremony with the laptop in my hands or at the reception. is there any way to transmit what is being recorded on
a cameracorder to the laptop and then on to skype or alternative (cheaply)?
any other suggestions on how I could realistically do this without me having to lug a laptop around for the day with me? I could just set it up in a
corner somewhere I guess but was hoping to do it so it almost feels like they are there e.g. get people to say quick hello to them, walk around a bit
so they can see the venue etc.
look forward to your suggestions
cheers,
mads

Skype?
VLC?
Armed with a webcam, microphone and a PC at both ends and they are as good as there :-)
Edited to add - an internet connection would of course be needed as well...

SKYPE/MSN would work and if your only conern for these is quality, you can use most modern camcorders as a webcam, and use their full quality.
Best thing to do is test some options in the UK before hand, one bonus with the internet (Providing you can get broadband at the location in poland)
is that it doesnt matter if your next door, or a few thousand miles away, the connection will be largely the same.
As for freedom, a wireless set up would be expensive to set up for a one off i would expect. You'd be better off setting a fixed camera up with
a cable to the laptop, (maybe in one of the front seats?) and or get 2 cameras and laptops and have 2 feeds they can log on to both and get multiple
angles.

laptop with me all day.

(see my edit re wireless)
Most headcams etc used for 'free' recording with no wires sinmply record to a memory stick and dont transmit, there are wireles cameras
out there (CCTV) etc but most will require wired power so probly wouldnt last long on a battery source.
Netbooks are very light weight, so you could by a small netbook bag and carry that around with the cam plugged to that and the wireless on the netbook
connected to skype/msn messenger.

Depends what your budget is...
But you could buy a wireless camera (or transmitter system to use an existing camera) thus make the camera wireless and then feed that into a laptop
and stream on titnernet...

cheers folks. will have a look to see what is out there in terms of making the camcorder wireless. if not too expensive then would much rather do
that.
