Ok... I know hindsite is a wonderful thing... BUT..

Even back then, surley it was bloody obvious that if the car rolls the driver is going to get squished without some sort of rollbar.... And... its pretty obvious that you will be ejected from the car at speed if you are not restrained in some way....

Crazy... wonder how many people in that video died..

It was probably assumed it was safer to be flung out of the car,abit like carting today!

That's exactly the view of a letter in a motoring mag, reporting on making seat compulsory (circa 1960-something). Very strange, seeing some of the commonly-held beliefs of that time. (Been browsing thru some old car mags left by an elderly, deceased relative).

Some of the "specials", (aka kit cars), around in 1961 are amazing in their variety. Some never made it beyond the first 1-off build. When you see the finished product, its not so surprising.
