Garmin Nuvi 350 help

Trying to sort out the future mother in laws sat nav, anyone got any suggestions to fixing it or is a bin job.

Its a Garmin Nuvi 350 Euro model. She assures me she hasnt done anything to it. For some reason its suddenly not holding a very long charge and also every time you connect the power supply, be it car charger, mains charger etc, it comes up with a usb connect to computer type screen so you cant use the nav.

This is the screen that comes up

any ideas?

I had a satnav freeze up on me before. Only way I got it to 'hard reset' was to leave it on until the battery was flat, keep turning it on until it won't any longer, then plug it in. Before I did that every time I plugged it in it froze on the splash screen. maybe worth a try?
