MP3 music set up for non-techies....
Our friends are getting married this weekend and we want to set them up with music from their laptop. Now these people are seriously non-techie, they
just about manage to use an old laptop. They currently still play music via CD's and a very cheap old system.
We had a party around their place the other day and I took an iPod with a nice quality floor standing speaker dock and they were blown away with the
music quality and choice.
So I'm thinking about gettnig them into torrent downloading and setting them up with a way to play music. I'm thinking about maybe an
external HDD to store lots of music (then I can upload all the things they like from our huge collection) and then a reasonable set of PC speakers to
play it in their lounge.
Does this seem like the best way to go? And if so, does anybody have any recommendations for stereo PC speakers (they don't need 5.1, 2.1 will
be fine).
And what software would you recommend to use on their laptop? I'm thinking iTunes for being free and easy to use with a nice interface, but
maybe there are other simpler and nicer ones?

Winamp possibly it is FREE!
I have set of Logitech 2.1 speakers similar to this on my TV and they are fantastic for the price.

Bought some nice bassy speakers (they like their dance music) and a 500Gb portable Seagte HDD for £105 - sorted!!
Now to train them how to use it

I still use winamp too (12 years and counting  )
but for an really easy to use free one I'd say itunes, once its installed you can change a few settings for ripping CD's (basicaly just
the format, quality and where it saves them) - then your done, its so easy to use even my mum can use it

I used to use musicmatch jukebox but to be fair something like VLC or even Windows Media Player would be fine. I just stick them all in one folder
(music) then sorted by artist then album. Find what you want, right click and select "queue in..."

I've tried Winamp and a Media Player and still think iTunes is probably the easiest and most intuitive for non-techie folk.
Well, the little Scan disk clip mp3 turned up this morning - it's absolutely tiny and light, now filling it up with Broadway Musical tunes for
the mother-in-law - she'll be happy!!
