FIRE!

well it took them three laps to black flag him in, and then he drove straight by the fire marshalls who directed him to the end of the pitlane where all the extinguishers were. Instead he parked outside his pit garage. they put it out ok with powder.

first thoughts were a split oil cooler leaked onto the exhaust, but turned out to be a fuel line bolt onto one of the carbs ahd come loose chukcing petrol over a rather warm engine.

He hadn't a clue until they got him out of the car.

Thanksfully not too much damage was done and the car was sorted for the race the same day.

The funniest part was when one of the used extinguishers was put back into the fire car (jag s-type) and the pin was knocked out. when they realised and opened the dors the car had filled up with powder!!!! unfortunately no pic of that bit!

Ned.

Ned, this reminds me of an extinguisher incident I had when working is Saudi. We had a Jeep Cherokee survey vehicle which unbeknown to me had a fire extinguisher under the drivers seat. Anyhoo I jumped in and tried to adjust the drivers seat and grabbed the extinguisher handle instead. The Jeep filled with powder and I dissapeared in a cloud, it made one hell of a mess.

Quite amusing ned and Paul. Did it take long to clear up paul?!!

Similar thing happened to my dad's clubmans car when the fire breathing DCOE's set the air filters alight, which then burnt through the oil pressure guage tube, which put the low pressure light on which made him pull off. Bit of a shock to him when he got out and saw the thing alight! Luckly not to much damage but again that powder made a mess as did the oil...
