OT - painting kitchen cabinets ?
has anyone here painted old kitchen cabinets ?
I've got a rather small tired old kitchen at the moment, the long term plan is to extend it and replace most of it at the same time, but in the
short term I'm looking to paint the cabinets some kind of satin/semi-gloss white to keep the GF happy
the cabinets are all solid enough, but they are built from a mix of solid wood, veneer and that fake plasticy veneer over chip board stuff
I'm fairly sure I the wood will take paint without any big problems, but how do I make it stick to the plasticy bits ?

My m8 sprayed his kitchen cupboards metalic green, and laquer with normal car paint,
I saw them in his paint unit and thought they were disgusting, but when all dried and back in the kitchen WOW!!
Not to my taste or colour, but very very bling
I will ask how, with the placy bits, but would imagine nornal car primer

Missus did ours with a gloss roller and pukka cabinet door paint a few years back ,they've stood the test of time and transformed the
kitchen.

The softer plastic stuff, I've some on a B&Q kitchen can need a light key for the paint to take
The hard surface stuff is called melamine and needs the proper paint
I like the idea of spray pint but still may need an etch primer
Anywhere near the oven or hob and beware the heat, some of my B&Q plastic has melted over the hob and near the oven
I eat to survive
I drink to forget
I breath to pi55 my ex wife off (and now my ex partner)

do you think a coat of bog std. white eggshell would work over the top of that ?
(ie. same top coat as on the wooden doors)
