fastest speed you've driven on the road
of course we're referring to the local private roads in my area, officer.
foreign roads allowed, not race tracks though.
details of car you were in, location, time of day, conditions etc if you like...
mph as inidicated on speedo (no broken speedo's or exageration please)
Ned.

I think less specific details posted the better.
Statistically, there has to be at least one cop on here!

Who needs speed cameras when there are threads like this.
You're all nicked!
I've lived a life that's full.
I've traveled each and ev'ry highway.
But more, much more than this,
I did it side-ah-ways.

Push bike.
Hanging off the back of a Lotus Esprit V8 on the M25.
Reached 145mph before I came off. Bounced twice landed on my feet and received a standing ovation from everyone in the queue on the left.
One bloke said I should have turned proffesional stuntman.
I said nah, earning sh*t loads with computers
Cheers
Mark
PS. The above is total b**locks!! Just don't think speeding on public roads is that great frankly. Seen too much carnage.

I had 2 test drives of civic type R and on both occasions the salesman encouraged fast driving. One told me i should hold the gears longer and go
round corners faster.

Late model Toyota Corolla that 'said' 130. Not sure if that's possible in what I thought was a 1.6 is it?
Was on a bit of private track that looked not dissimilar to a motorway.
Same goes for 2.0 Chrysler Neon.
Managed 150 as pillion(sp?) on a Honda Blackbird (my first time on a motorbike!). Not long after my girlfriend had been on the back of the same bike
at 170.
Both were on privately owned country lanes around the Chobham area.
Foolish definately but an experience all the same!

Cruise control on at 145 in my last Mitsi Galant
feet off pedals is bloody scary at that speed
And yes - I was on an autobahn in Germany,
the really scary bit was when i gat flashed to get out of the way of a VW Sharran !!! as it went past all I caught sight of was a G60 (?40) badge
!!!!
fatstest Uk road ? well I'll admit to 115 - but i have already paid the price for that officer
Allegedly I have allegedly hit 135 allegedly quite regularly allegedly on a local entirely private road (belongs to one Liz Windsor)
allegedly........Again in my current Mitsi Gallant

bounced my '00 BMW 530 sport off the speed limiter at 155, and yes, i won, late on the brakes in to round about!

James,
I've clocked 129/130mph (was looking at the road more than the speedo) in Sam's 316 bmw. I doubt very much I was actually doing that
speed, most likely in reality more lke 115-120mph due to speedo inaccuracy/over-reading.
Ned.

in a dream.....
indicated 136mph in my 1.8 escort at around 6am on a sunday morning going to a car show.
book speed is only 122 on em though so i'm guessing that speedo is pretty far out at high speed.
also in another dream touched 150 in my bosses M5 which was on test drive listening for a suspension noise, forgot there was actually 6 gears in the
damn thing though so there was more to go but those boring germans of course limit them to 155 so wouldn't have been much to get after that.
never did find that noise though

fastest land speed for me is 170 mph on a suzuki hyabusa, on the NJ Turnpike at night with no traffic. the fastest in a car has been in a dodge viper
155 mph. Both scared the wee out of me, the Busa more than the viper, but I never plan on going that fast again, unless I compete in the gumball
3000.
