fire stops

Anyone had any dealings with a installer drilling through walls to put new cables in and not sealing around the cables.
Am i right and can anyone point nme in the direction of some information as iam sure he must seal them when he is finished, every thing i find is from the US and the building regs in the UK dont give a clear definition. This is on public buildings not a home.

If they've breached a fire separating wall they should make good with appropriate fire stopping.

If you look at Approved Document B Volume 2, Section 10 it'll give you some guidance on what should be done.
It's available as a free download.

Your local Building Control should be able to provide further guidance.

Any gap should be filled but when job is on going accepted practice with public buildings if a hole is only big enough to get your thumb in it should have the fire barrier made good even if work is going to recommence the next day in the airports we made the contractors use small sand bags and/or two layers of plaster board.
